Anyway to do thisI find it good to imagine your fist as a brick on a loose rope

how effective is systema against larger opponents.
most MA I have seen and the few I tried dont show you how to defend yourslef well against bigger opponents. And being 5'7'' and 135lbs is on the small side.

@TheOriginalKushMan shes greek rybko went to greece.

imagine striking a hammer instead, might be better analogy IMHO
-
fit russian bird likes it rough. Good concept though makes sense in reducing lag and wobble through the punch.
-
the hammer of russia strikes not from the waist but from the fist!

@kuremadman you imagine the speed he generated while stood infront of someone in a confrontation and laying them out. You are right its about the speed and being loose. I have got Bruce Lees book and he says about being less tense, the more fast and powerful you become ;)

;) People dont want to listen to that theory until they feel their brain exploding every time they get hit by a relaxed fighter.
I knew a bloke with no fighting training but used to knock people out with his hand starting in his trouser pocket. He said it kept his arm loose. He told me that years befor I leaned the secret of destructive punching

@lukeating Exactly. Mass x acceleration = Force. You can't inscrease the mass of your fist, you can only increase acceleration. Acceleration is hampered by tension. Anyone who doubts this concept needs to look no father than Bruce Lee's Tao of Jeet Kun Do. His predominant principle was to remain relaxed until the moment of impact. Watch any great striker and they appear to be loose with all their movements.

I have boxed for years
If you punch like this you dont need body weight
A relaxed arm thrown fast is enough will do more damage and use less energy than trying to get your weight behind it :)
What is the technique here?

There is no technique demonstrated here - there are no techniques in Systema in general, only concepts, principles, strategies and tactics. The point is that in order to achieve the "heavy hands feeling", the wrist (not the fist) should be tight but the rest of the arm as relaxed as possible. This feeling is applied to all sorts of strikes, not only the downward ones.
