AIBO swimming in Paris

This swimming suit was designed by Letissia Perrin and Tiffany Tripet, two former ECAL students (www.ecal.ch). This project was initiated during a workshop with Frederic Kaplan, former researcher at the Sony Computer Science Laboratory in Paris and Martino d'Esposito, industrial designer, at ECAL. In this video the robot learns how to swim using a software architecture based on artificial curiosity developed by by Pierre-Yves Oudeyer and Frederic Kaplan. More info on aibo.playroom.fr

swimming or randomly cycling through a poorly conceived paddling algorithm until finally getting blown along by a stiff breeze?

makes a couple of lunges but doesn't really seem to result in consistent self propulsion.

Looks like somebody programmed it with a tweaked motion capture of a baby with arm floatys in a wading pool.

i could probably invent new aibos i could even make one thats waterproof the waterproof ones shall be called Aibo ERS 143
