Go to http://www.technomicon.com/TechChat/TechChat-6-13-11.html for our complete WWDC article. This is Scott's discussion of upcoming features in iOS 5.0. Push notifications will be much improved with a notification center that allows accessing notifications at any time. Also, in keeping with Apple's iCloud service, iOS devices can now operate "PC Free" requiring no host computer (PC or Mac) to initiate service, back up iTunes purchases, or receive iOS updates. For many people, iPad or iPhone will be the only computer they need. Not making the top ten, but high on my personal list is Airplay video mirroring, something I've been predicting for some time.

  • They should do the twitter thing on Facebook

  • They should do thé twist ter tringle with Facebook =)

  • if steve jobs presented this, it wuld be amazing as fuck

  • Scott has his hair like Ace Ventura

  • You would think 'notifications' were something new judging by the way the audience reacted.

  • they should intergrate facebook to ios 5 ...

  • @TheAlvaster LOL, so the iPad is popular only because it "sucks". HAHAHAHAHA.

  • Are you serious?!...Android is a mess. Apples ios is polished to perfection instead of android which is always in Beta. Heck the iphone 4s beat the Samsung in all the benchmarks although the S2 had twice the Ram. I really do see why Android needs all that extra Ram..because it's so crappy!. At least with the iphone, I know I have the top of the line model for a whole year unlike Android where every week a new Android phone is released. Iphone rulez!!!

  • This is what Apple does best. Force the ignorant basis of the world to think they've got technology, and then over 10 years, give guide them through baby steps to what the world already had those 10 years ago. Kudos.

  • @ancdavis123 People care because Apple fans are so smug about their features that reality has to be beaten into them. Multi-touch was no invented by Apple. Capacitive technology existed before Apple marketed it to an "idiot-friendly" base. The iPad was not the first tablet, as many computer and handheld manufacturers made stronger, even better tablets in the past. I won't link, go google and inform yourself. Tablets are popular now, yes, because of the iPad's launch, but only because iPad SUCKS.
