An early morning collision in south Modesto has left two seriously injured.
At about 3:30 AM Thursday police responded to a serious vehicle collision near the intersection of Morgan and Whitmore in south Modesto. When they arrived they found that a vehicle had struck a TID power pole and guy wire causing extensive damage to the vehicle and trapping two occupants inside.
The collision caused a power outage and the live power lines posed serious danger to rescuers trying to free the vehicle's occupants.
The Modesto Police Department Traffic Unit was activated to investigate the serious collsion. At this time they are investigating the possibility that vehicle speed and alcohol were a factor in the collision.
The 21-year-old female driver suffered critical life-threatening injuries and possibly paralysis. The male passenger suffered serious injuries.
