Here is a simple, practical and easy to build woodshed to keep your firewood nice and dry. I call it THE WOODCHUCK. It's 11' long, 3' high and 22" deep. It holds about a half cord of wood. The open face design allows easy access to wood and the overhang keeps your wood dry. I used preasure treated two by fours and plywood, log siding and cedar shake for the roof. The roof is at a 10 degree pitch. Here's how I built it. Contact me if you have any questions.

  • Thanks for pointing that out! You're absoulutely right. It never occured to me to do the calculation. I just threw out the "about 1 cord" as a guess-timate. Im sure yours will look great too!

  • Arent you worried about termites?

  • Not at all. It's way too cold here in Norhtern NY. We dont have termites. Carpenter ants aplenty though!

  • Thanks... I'm going to do one mixed with my style... You made it easy for "Tim the Tool Man Taylors" like me. Thanks again

  • @minkskarma Youre welcome. Hope it comes out great! Be sure to post a video when its done.

  • Can I get this video emailed to me?

  • Not sure that'd hold a cord.

A cord is 128 cubic feet (4'x4'x8') - I calculate yours to be about 60 cubic feet. A hair under half a cord.

That's one fine looking store though. I'm building mine with slatted sides for ventilation but there's not a prayer it will end up looking as good as yours does with the round timber siding.

  • Yes, but not as nice as yours. You at least gave the motivation. I just took scrap wood I had in my garage and put it together in about 3 hrs. Just needed something on the side of my garage to keep the wood somewhere off the ground for the fall/winter seasons. Just built a simple 3 tier. Thanks again!
