What you refer to as lame excuses for cars (HONDA) has been in the top 5 JD Powers quality review for over a decade and has now become Japans number 2 car manufacturer.
So your opinion that these cars blow up below 200k with proper maintenance is your opinion and a minority if fact.

yup I owned a 95 civic engine siezed solid at 186k kilometres NOT miles.
oil changed every 5000 kms with mobil 1
honda makes shit cars for cheap people.

These guys are dumbshits. Instead of destroying a car's engine, they should at least fix the engine up. That's all a beat-up car really needs is a an engine repair and tune-up. The car itself can wait for excessories, the performance matters the most.
