I have been looking for this 45 for ages, and finally found a copy last Sunday. This is the original pressing. 2nd pressings on styrene with blue labels are tough to find as well. The label is from a small city called Vandergrift, Pa, which is about a half hour from Pittsburgh. The group is from Tarentum, which is a town about ten miles west from Vandergrift.

  • here's that beuatiful record from my hometown!! The Citations are a good band too. They recorded a record called Moon Race and Slippin' and Slidin'. I got a radio station copy of the citation record.

  • Was the Citations record on Kiski also?

  • That song is on one of the Pittsburgh's Greatest Hits CDs.

  • Yes it is.. Volume 2 I believe. That's how I became acquainted with this song. That particular volume is one of the greatest compilation cds I have ever heard.

  • According to the story they were discovered by the owner of Kiski Records as he was driving through Tarentum one night in 1962..they were singing on a streetcorner at the time...the group started singing initially at the Bethel AME Church in Tarentum in the church choir...again, according to an article in the Valley News Dispatch from 2004, "Please Come Back To me" did well on the radio charts in Greensburg & Butler (PA) but was never played on WAMO, the major station in Pittsburgh...amazing!!

  • Very interesting.. Is this article available on the net?

  • PJ that record is posted.

  • Hi PJ. Hey I found that Citations record. I knew I had it somewhere. I'm gonna post it right now!

  • @PJDooWop no it was an epic records radio station release

  • Who is the lead singer ??? I agree he sounds alot like Jerry Butler. Very nice song. It amazes me that this group and many like them never made it on a national level. Guess its all in the promotion. Thanks for the upload. I really like it.

Great vocals. I like to hear more from them.

  • Fantastic, just fantastic!
