A little over 25 years ago Richard was in the studio and was intruduced to Wynn Stewart. They hit it off so well that Wynn asked to produce an album for Rich. Wynn gave to him a song that he had given to Merle Haggard, which later was his first hit and then recorded by the Late Charlie Harris. Wynn wanted to first do the song with Rich as a duet so this is the original unreleased cut of "A Song of Sadness" better known as "Sing a Sad Song". He had told Rich to take it home and live with it. He had the foresight to know that his young voice would mature and live up to his expectations with not only this song but the entire album. Unfortunately Wynn passed a short time after this duet was done and was never able to hear Rich's final version of the song along with the completed album which was released as "County Music Turns Her On."
