While many may take for granted having a toilet or a pit latrine at home or even schools the situation of lack of toilets is alarming in KIlifi County . The Kenya Open data has ranked Kilifi primary schools as amongst the worst in pupil toilet ratio. In thne health assignment today Irene Choge visited some schools in the county to see first hand how poor sanitation has affected learning in the county

Ama you are waiting for a mzungu NGO to travel all the way to Kilifi to dig you a pit latrine? This is learned helplessness! Mobilize wanainchi in the spirit of Harambee and you will get this done over-night....Give me a break

This is gross lack of leadership. Govt district administration of health, education and all headmasters should have been fired a very long ago. How much does it take to build a simple toilet? It takes only two days to build a good toilet . You you one need a 10-metre hole/pit with a concrete top, a wall with a door and a roof. Two people can build such a latrine in one or two days! Kilifi has many strong hard-working people and lots of resources to afford latrines for all schools and homes.

Tear down tht school and build a modern one
