it is a janya raagam also known as waking raaga or evoking raagaa.. morning raagas such as sankaraabaranam, malayamaarutham..etc

tirupaavai by aandal, tirupalliezhuchi by tirutondaradipodi aazhwaar stanzas also sang in bhoopaala raagam.
