Jerry Murphy, First selectman gave up the fight to stop Iroquois pipeline company from building and operating 2 gas turbine compressors next to our middle school and near 1000 homes. Jerry Murphy thought saving legal fees was more important than trying to protect all the children in that school and the neighborhoods. Even if he couldn't win, we could stall them for years. But Jerry Murphy first said the tax revenues from Iroquois are more important, and only paid lip service to parents' health and safety concerns about these giant, polluting gas turbines, one like it had caught fire and exploded in Colorado in the past year.

Here is a meeting Jerry Murphy could have carried on the fight, the Inland Wetlands Commission, which held this public hearing town meeting on the Iroquois application.

We asked Mr. Murphy to attend and have it televised on CH 17, but he refused. None of the Selectman, none of the Board of Ed, Planning committeee or Health Dept attended. Superintendent Bivona also refused to televise the meeting on CH 17

Brookfield, CT is the also victim of Iroquois,Algonquin, and FERCs Federal eminent donaing placement of 3 Gas pipelines, thru town, connecting next door to our Middle School of 1200 and over 1000 homes.

This pipeline construction by Iroqois almost 20 years ago was fast and loose and caused so much environmental damage that the EPA filed felony charges. But Iroquois also cut safety too, lack of safety supports and dumping rocks and boulders to fill on top of the pipeline, proved by FBI excavations at 50 sites along the pipes.

EPA filed felony charges against 3 Iroquois executives and fined Iroquois the largest fine ever for environmental damage by a pipeline company, and in EPA history, second only to the Exxon Valdez, $25 million.

Vote for a new Selectman who will fight to protect our children, Bob Silvaggi www.BrookfieldHasAChoice.com
