SAFE protestors were out in force against the International Rodeo in Hamilton in November. TV One, 3 News, Radio Live, Newstalk ZB, Waikato Times and YahooNZ aired SAFE's protest. SAFE campaign manager Mandy Carter says "The International Rodeo is the largest rodeo in the country and includes loud music, fireworks and pyrotechnics, so along with the usual torment, goading and brutal treatment animals endure, they must also contend with fear, stress and anxiety caused by loud noise and bright lights."
Thank you for your courage in protesting. It's amazing to me, how easily the cruelty is rationalized. It's legalized animal abuse, plain and simple.

What twisted rationalizations! If not for "bucking" these lives would be in "the can"... And "Just keep bucking - and you get a long life." By whose right is of of anyone's to take an innocent creature and force them to do something (even once a year) "OR ELSE!"
I believe there are A LOT of "or elses" happening with horses... As soon as there's too many - or a "better" one comes along - Trade time! And eventually if not sooner - a trip to the slaughterhouse. Sickening!
