Verrett excepcional, y grandísima actriz que es ¡qué presencia escénica! Los milaneses, tan suyos, no le aplauden al finalizar Nel di della y ella queda sorprendida, pero se rinden tras la increíble cabaletta con da capo. Thank you so much to whoever posted this video. I adore this singer. It was such sad news to hear she passed away last November. I love all her performances. This was one of her greatest achievements. What a great ovation!!!!! I would have love to have seen in her in person.

She came back at La Scala and was a wonderful Carmen too. She also sang in Don Carlos. I have the most beatiful memories of this wonderful woman but this production of Macbeth will be forever unsurpassed not only in my memory but also in the history of opera. To answer to somebody who asked if there is the DVD of this performance, unfortunately it does not exist. The right belongs to RAI (Italian Television).Maybe one day somebody at RAI will decide to publish it. Let's hope they will. Ciao :-)

signed photographs that I treasure. She not only was an exceptional singer, she was also a very sweet and sensible woman. I also remember a concert, always at La Scala, she was wearing a pink evening dress and it was not a nice evening for her because someone in the audience booed because they did not like her interpretation of a German aria, I think, I do not remember which and she cried openly on stage. She did not deserve that.

She did not sing at every performance, Ghena Dimitrova sang on other evenings.Dimitrova had a wonderful voice but Verrett was far superior in her performance, the way she acted the evil in Lady Macbeth was impossible to equal for any other singer. And it did not matter at all if she was never able to get the D flat at the end of the sleepwalking aria (Una macchia è qui tutt'ora), her Lady Macbeth is and will always be a masterpiece. I met her personally a few times and she gave me beautiful

December 7th 1975. I went to La Scala to see my first opera. Needless to say it was this very one of which you are watching a small part of it, but what part! There was no better introduction to opera for me. It was a magical evening and Miss Verrett was simply sensational as excellent where Ghiaurov and Cappuccilli. A marvellous production. A few years later there was a reprise of it and I went to see all the replicas in which Miss Verrett played again beautifully her Lady Machbeth.
