The opening and closing to The Astronut Show. The Astronut was a friendly but nutty character from outer space produced by Terrytoons. The character first appeared in an episode of Deputy Dawg. The Astronut Show was syndicated beginning in August, 1965.

  • I notice that you have "The Kisser Plant" twice in your list of related videos.

  • That's because there are twins from Brazil who call themselves "TheNewToonTracker" and they download all of my videos and the cartoon videos of just about every other YouTube user, then repost them as if they were the original posters. This creates duplicate posts that show up in the related videos list.

  • Neat. Do you have OP/ED for "Bailey's Comets"?

  • Yes, I'll post it soon.

  • Washed out color or red tinted film?

  • Washed out color... The original film had turned red and I tried to adjust it the best I could using white balance.

  • The announcer is Tom Morrison, story supervisor for "Terrytoons" and the voice of "Mighty Mouse" himself...

  • That swirl from "The Astronut Show" was later used on the syndicated "Terrytoons" show using samples from "The Heckle & Jeckle Cartoon Show" (explosions) and "Mighty Mouse Playhouse" (planets) where it goes right into the train sequence. That is what the opening is all about.

  • Ralph Bakshi probably learned

more from Bill Weiss than Weiss

    learned from Bakshi. That's why

I think of 'Fritz the Cat' and

    'Heavy Traffic' (even at this

    late date) as Anti-Terrytoons!

  • anybody notice Ralph Bakshi's name in the credits listed under "animation"?...how he was able to endure his tenure at Terrytoons under neo-Fascist Bill Weiss boggles the mind!!
