US soldier revealed utter disrespect @ Walter Reed

A number of soldiers that were victims of the mistreatment and disrespect at Walter Reed testified before the House Committee on Government Reform.

Staff Srg John Shannon, who was wounded in battle, describes how he was talked down to by the staff & Walter Reed. SHANNON: "..at that point, I was showing a soldier that was also a patient in opthamology down to the office. And it was five minutes before they opened, and I just needed to ask the lady if a certain opthamologist worked there. And she looked me up and down, in my opinion like a piece of dirt, and said, 'Come see me when we open.' I won't repeat what I said to her. I cussed a blue streak. And it took everything I had not to jump over the counter and smash the printer she was using to copy.."

What a way to respect the soldiers that put their bodies on the line to defend YOUR freedoms.

yes walter reed is still like this. no one cares and no one fixes problems other then making it worse for us wounded soldiers. we are truly forgotten in this country.

The treatment we recieve from the VA is the same. All they do is medicate until you don't know what type of treatment yo are getting. I feel like zombie

Soldiers come back from Iraq to get treatment, it gets delayed,and when a soldier does get done with the treatment, he is offered 10% disability, and they tell you to go to the VA will give you more.If you fight it, they keep you longer away from your family. Eventually soldiers take the 10% just so they can go home, they say its all PRE EXISTING, Rude doctors, over worked staff,and doctors calling us LIARS.

This is an incredible disgrace. I hope they can finally fix these problems that have been around my entire life, regardless of the party leadership or president. I also hope they address the entire veteran/military care system, because this is NOT an isolated case at Walter Reed; stuff like this is happening all over the country.
