What a crowd, massive! And the Movietone commentator rather embellishes what was going on out on the terraces! This drubbing was clearly a motivator for Sir Alex Ferguson in his management career, although I am sure his Rangers career was ended not just on this match alone. Anyway, the pure passion from both teams on view makes great watching!

@karlvorderman ......Ferguson was supposed to be marking McNeill at corners, but it was the Rangers player (Ronnie McKinnon?) who was to blame. He was supposed to be covering the right side post, but moved out of position, allowing the header to go in. You're right, Ferguson does have a grudge about this and has admitted to having the full 90 minutes of this game on tape in his house.

This was actually Alex Ferguson's last match for Rangers. HE WAS BLAMED for Billy McNeill's header from the corner. I can now see why as he stood and watched and didn't mark properly. @vymmas Well said. Kids don't wear adverts on their jerseys, and I wish us adults had a say in it. Tennents won't pay the jersey buyers. Something on the fly there.

I know you can't stand in the way of progress and everything, but for me the best things about this clip are the massive, packed, sweeping Hampden terraces (the ground held about 130,000 at this point) and the almost complete lack of advertising on either the player's shirts or round the ground in general.
