@stellalarue When this song came out in 1991 (canadian release) Minimum wage was $4.25 per hour in the US. It wasn't $5.15 until 1997.

in 88 and just starting out as a couple with a baby on the way we had $600 a month, i honestly think minimum wage has gotten lower as to how far it can go...and yes we had a car even though it sucked hahahha...please Sam lets never make minimum again

Minimum wage was $5.15 when this song came out in the 90's. Now minimum wage is $7.25 here in America.
