Hidden Worries (Contest Entry One-Shot) Part 2

Here's part 2! =D

At 11:30 the next day, my phone rang loudly. I immediately knew it was Nick. My heart was pounding in my chest as I answered it.
"Hello?" I asked nervously.
"Hey, Nicole. It's Nick." his voice said shyly.
I blushed when he said my name.
"Hi. What's up?" I replied, a smile on my face.
"Not much. I'm just about to take Elvis to the park. Want to go with me?" he asked quietly.
"Of course! Yeah, I'll meet you there in 10 minutes." I said excitedly. "See you soon!"
"Great! Bye."
"Bye."
I was out the door in 1 minute, Veronica running with me on her leash. I'd thought about Nick all day yesterday. I'd decided that I really wanted to get to know him. It was awesome that I finally had another dog-lover friend. None of my other friends had dogs, and besides, their idea of fun was shopping. While I, on the other hand, loved playing with Ron in the park all afternoon.
I arrived at the park 5 minutes early, and he was there too. I smiled in secret pleasure at the fact that he had run here too. I walked over and Ron tugged on her leash, trying to go over to Elvis. I walked closer so that her and Elvis could greet each other. By moving forward, I was now touching Nick's arms with mine. We both blushed but didn't move away.
"Hi." I smiled.
"Hi." he whispered, leaning down and hugging me tightly to him.
I had never, in my whole life, met a guy so fearless. He wasn't worried at all about making a bad move on me. Maybe he was worried, but if so, he was hiding it very well.
"Let's do this." he grinned, pulling away, and we began walking down the path.
As we walked, we talked about our schools, our likes, our dislikes, our families, out interests, and basically everything else that you could ever talk about. I found myself getting more absorbed in our conversation as time went on, and I realized how much I liked this guy. He was sweet, funny, kind, sensitive, smart... everything. He was, dare I say it, amazing.
We let our dogs off their leashes when we got to the field, and me and Nick sat beside each other on the picnic bench.
"I love summer." I sighed, leaning my head back in relaxation.
"Me too." he replied, following suit.
We stared up at the clouds for a moment and then he spoke.
"This would be better on the ground." he said with a chuckle, and he pulled me off the bench.
We flopped onto the grass beside each other and we stared up to the sky. I felt his fingers intertwine in mine and I grinned in satisfaction. I leaned my head closer to him and he ran his fingers through my hair.
"This feels so right." he whispered. "I mean, I know it's only been a day, but..."
"I know." I admitted. "I kind of never want to move from this spot."
"We don't have to. We should lay here all day." he teased.
I smiled and wrapped both my arms around him. We lay there for a 15 minutes and then he stopped combing his fingers through my hair. I turned to look at him and saw that his eyes were closed. He was asleep.
I grinned and leaned closer into him. He was right. This felt wonderful. I had never been this close to a guy before, let alone a guy I'd only known for an afternoon. I closed my eyes and soon I drifted into a peaceful nap.
