Reagan on terrorists

A CNN report (Oct '84) on remarks in a speech from George Shultz re: going after terrorists. President Reagan's comment is towards the end.

Reagan was a great president it you want to hate on Republicans just look too Jimmy Carter and see that he put saddam there.

Thats what I keep telling people, but no one wants to listen. Saddams iraq had russian made weapons, tanks, airplanes rifles. Not American made ones. That should serve as some proof that it wasnt America that sold chemical weapons to saaddam.

@ITheProfessorI With all respect, I disagree. The number 1 reason for Al-queda forming was due to Osama Bin Laden getting laughed at by the Saudis when he offered to fight Saddam instead of letting the U.N., and especially the U.S. do it instead. The number 2 reason we agree on.

Actually, back then, there was no "Al Qaeda"

Personally, I don't even believe in it, I think it's just a word coined by the State Dept ( or those alike )

It was the Mujhadeen ( What is the Taliban today ) that they supported.

What people don't understand is, the reasonings for 9-11, began with the Gulf War ( which was followed by putting a base in Saudi Arabia )

Reason 1 for 9-11

2. Support for oppressive regimes

3. Support for Israel

But no one wants to talk about that... =I

@maidaid William Engdahls book Century of War goes into the Brits, US, and Soviets occupying Iran, slaughtering the democratic nationalists around Mossadegh, and backing the feudal warlords while starving the population.

Kohmeini and his mentor were used by CIA to topple Mossadegh and install the Shah, then Kohmeini was later installed by British and American intelligence to replace the Shah. It's almost hilarious, except all the dead people.

@SHMUJEW it's just phony, western govts have been supporting and funding terrorists for decades, they can play one group off another and shift the public relations commentary however they want, name who's the "good guys" and who's the "bad guys" du jour. Orwell was right!!!
