Atari 800 XL - Panther - Longplay to Survivor Unload

Me playing the great Atari 8-bit Panther game. Completed to the point of Survivor Unload. I was killed shortly after this video ends, because the enemies become much more evil!

I wanted to see what for I was collecting those survivors in the wasteland so much, that I trained and trained until I could make it!

I was also curious to see what happens in this game after you destroy the Omega attack wave... Well, I made that too, using a trick, at some other time :)

Awesome game, I never got past the city when I played this as a kid cos when I saw the message "Fly under the radar", I didn't know what it meant back then ;)

@andthis1 Actually, back then, I also didn't know what it means! But I was playing the game in a computer club where lots of children were playing computer games, and I could have watched the "professionals". Someone just empirically found that if you fly low, missiles won't strike you. Only later I found out what do such phrases mean like "Fly under radar" or "Phoenix maneuver complete". Btw, do you realize what does the latter mean?

I watch this for the music. Great skills! I never got past the missile stage, had not thought about riding the ground like you did.. guess the missiles don't even come out then. Awesome! Now i wanna play...

You should have watched the messages on the game control panel. It says "Fly under radar" when you are approaching the city!

For me, the most difficult part was the "Plasma attack" until I found a trick to easily go through it.

Great video.... i love and also hate this game :) I love it for the music, but it's so f**** hard.... that once (about 15 years ago) I smashed my joystick on a wall :) P.S. GREAT SKILL !!!

I would assume it meant you consumed a revive, since it popped up when he died.

@bormisha I never managed to find out. Haunted me for years, that one. Assumed those things are called "phoenix" and their meneuvering killed me eventually. Not sure if there's logic in that... :)

Also, If you fly highest and keep constantly dodging from left to right, the missiles will miss you, and you get through that part faster.

I do, the Phoenix reincarnates itself in flames. Therefore "Phoenix maneuver" is just a fancy name for coming back to life. Of course, I didn't know that back when I was 6 years old either, lol ;)
