Can-can : French joie de vivre on display during Bastille Day celebration in New York City on July 11, 2010. Everytime that I see women dance the can-can, they always seem up, excited, and inspired. It is a crowd-pleasing dance, because everybody knows about the tease that is behind the dance. It's particularly entertaining, especially when the dancers mix humor into their routines, as they did on this day. Plus, there is a lot of nostalgia invested in can-can dancers from movies, books, and TV.
Merci à France et merci à French Institute : Alliance Française.
Bastille Day is not July 11, it is July 14.

@Jadexfriendsforever I know, but in NYC, we get too excited to wait until the 14th to celebrate ! Actually, organisers of the fête in NYC generally pick the Sunday before, because Bastille Day isn't a government holiday for everybody (like it should be). I hope you got to mark the day with some fun.
Gay Marshall was at the fête, too, and she sang La Vie en Rose with a beautiful violin accompanying her : check it out :
