In September 2010, The Ghost Ballerinas released their brand-new debut EP album entitled, "Halfway There" which takes you on a journey back to the 1960s and through every decade in between. The Ghost Ballerinas is poised to unleash a whirlwind of new songs in 2011, inspired by music of Jack White, The Beatles, The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Del McCoury, Johnny Cash, Radio Head and Nirvana.
Born with only one ear in Memphis, Tennessee, Alternative Rock musician Cameron Burnette had become a prolific teenage songwriter by the young age of 15. After losing his dad when he was seven years old, he was given a guitar by his grandfather who purchased it from an old preacher in Booneville, Mississippi. Cameron later moved with his family near Nashville, Tennessee. Growing up on a mixture of Folk, Grunge, British and 90's Rock, and heavily influenced by music of the 60's, Cameron's vocals are both distinct and unique; his music is an eclectic blend of the many genres which shaped him as a musician. Simply put, his melodies and lyrics are inspired by the rawness of Cobain and the simplicity of Cash.
Bassist Justin Berry was born in Southbend, Indiana while younger brother, A.J. Vanderpool was born in Fort Pierce, Florida. These two brothers got their start in music during their pre-teen years and have been musicians since ages 11 and 9. Justin - who favors great bassists Les Claypool [Primus], Paul D'Amour [Tool] and Robert Deleo [Stone Temple Pilots] brings a grungy unique sound to the band - not only in his bass playing, but also in his songwriting abilities. With idols Dave Grohl [Foo Fighters / Nirvana] and Matt Greiner [August Burns Red], A.J. Vanderpool brings a drum talent to The Ghost Ballerinas that is unmatched. Cameron's unique and upbeat melodies & lyrics are pleasantly offset by Justin's writing style that appeals to the darker side of music.
The Ghost Ballerinas are well on their way to becoming a critically acclaimed band. The band is currently sponsored by both Visual Sounds in Franklin, TN and RampantDesignTools.com.
