If you can get your hands on a mop type barrel swab in 12 ga, attach it to a cleaning rod and you can lap the chamber with a fine compound. This isnt a death sentence for that weapon. It happens more often than not that FTE's are because the chambers arent to the correct tolerances from the factory, and when the barrel/chamber heats up from firing. This happens to firearms usually just before the tooling is adjusted after X amount of production. It is more than likely the problem. Worth trying.

@RugB346 I look forward to your follow-up video. I just bought this shotgun and have also bought cheap ammo from Wal-Mart. I will be picking up the gun in a few days and will be taking it to the range this weekend. Hopefully I won't have any problems.

I have three of these shotguns all with 24" barrels, and have in several outings put over 1000 rounds through each of them (use them with the Boyscouts every year) and periodically get rounds jammed like that, in all three of them, Have used winchester universal, remington universal, several different types of hand loads from 2 3/4" and 3", slugs, and buckshot, one of them, I've even put several specialty loads in. The only ammo I ever have issues with are the universal cheap ammo from walmart.

@shootload1911 Agreed -- This is not a combat grade shotgun. I've run into a lot of people who seem to think this gun never, ever fails and that it's just as good as a $400 or $1200 rig. It just isn't. Thanks for watching. - rugb
the reason why you can have failiuer to eject is if you use the winshester super x brand shels.
they have the reputation not to work in the maverick 88 other than that great shotgun

@Fuckaroundify Roger that. This gun can't feed Super X w/ any reliability. I've had it fail w/ other brands as well though. Stay tuned for a more in-depth testing of ammunition. This video is two and a half years old, and I just got in contact again w/ the owner. Maybe the gun can redeem itself. Thanks for watching. - rugb

the maverick 88 is made by Mossberg and is basically the 500. the only differences are where the safety is and that 1 or 2 of the parts are made in Mexico. HOWEVER, the gun is assembled in America and still comes with Mossberg's warranty. I own their maverick persuader 8shot model and have never had any issues, and i've tested 2 3/4 and 3in shells in slugs, buckshot, bird-shot of different manufactures. Is it possible you got a lemon, sure, but you can't blame the whole brand for that.

@Fyrious54 I'm glad you've never had an issue with you're 88. I've had a different experience with more than one 88 not being 100%. I don't expect a $170 gun to be 100% reliable with all loads. I also never "blame the brand" for this guns failure, I'm a huge Mossberg fan and I have an upcoming purchase of another Mossberg. This gun isn't a lemon either, it runs pretty well and doesn't have this issue w/ every load. It's a solid, inexpensive, recreational pump-action. Thanks for watching. - rugb

@RugB346 my comment was aimed at the hater's below. But like any firearm you buy there is a possibility for something to be slightly off or bumped along the assembly line, we all want our firearms to work 100% but any gun by any manufacture could have issues. although i would expect less issues with a more expensive firearm it is not unheard of them having problems. it has mechanical moving parts and is therefore sooner or later prone to failure.
