Dimitri Sanakoev, Head of Interim Administration of South Ossetia, highlighted negative role of Russia in resolution of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict, during his speech at the international conference in the village of Tamarasheni on Friday.
According to him, residents of the breakaway region are victims of the imperial politics of Russia, as all assistance, flowing from Russia into South Ossetia, is lavished for maintaining of illegal armed groups and locals are forced to service in those groups.
Dimitri Sanakoev said that Russia, owing to its aggressive attitude, loses the role of a go-between and becomes a party in the conflict.
Dimitri Sanakoev urged the international commonwealth to stop inflow of finances from Russia into the breakaway region by all means available.
The conference in the conflict zone was organized by Davit Bakradze, Georgian State Minister for Conflicts Resolution. The State Minister said that a conference of that scale in the conflict zone was unparallel, which was important to boost confidence of local residents and give them understanding that they were full-fledged citizens of the country.
Representatives of the executive and legislative bodies of Georgia, Interim Administration of South Ossetia and all diplomatic organizations in Georgia were attending the conference. Viacheslav Kovalenko, Russian Ambassador to Georgia rejected the invitation.

Georgia sent hundreds of tanks and troops into the province of South Ossetia and bombed Ossetian towns today in a major escalation of the conflict that has left over 2000 ossetian civilians dead. Georgia had launched an offensive yesterday to retake control of breakaway South Ossetia. Russia, which has close ties to the province and posts peacekeepers there, responded by sending in armed convoys and combat aircraft.
