How to tame your new rats ( step 4 )

** PLEASE NOTE** the cage used in all of my step video's is only tempory :) the boys are in it untill they get neutred, and then they will be living in the big cage with the girls, thanks for any concerns though :)

This step is all about handleing your rats in a patient way, so that your rats feel comfortable through out each different step, many of the steps are mainly about trust building, once you gain trust with your rats, anything is possible

your cage is to small for 2 rats and its better to get wired cage because the rats can climb, and also u need to make a platform if you are keeping the glass cage

@sticky2208 in your 2 video you say put your hand in and let them smell you But how do you handle the bite? they bite hard and i am scared of being bitten i never been able to tame rodents because i don't wanna be bitten please help me.

@BoyTheBeasty if you watch my step 2 video carefully, you will see that one of the rats does infact nip me :D but to be honest rats dont really bite that much... or not in my experience anyway. I only ever had 1 proper bite, If you handle them with patience and care they shouldnt bite :) dont be scared of them, they are tiny fluff balls :) and they are more scared of you at first!

great video i watched steps 1 to 3 awsome!! Im geting 2 females today so very helpful thx. i had a male rat but he was alrdy tame and comfortable with people wen i bought him but he passed away a few years ago R.I.P Rat Ratterson

@polymerclay140 Hehe the bubbles on there bum are testicles :) the things to consider when deciding which sex to get are personalitys, male rats seem more relaxed and most like to sit around and be lazy! Females are more playful and prefer to be running round :) However ive had the odd rats where this has been opposite so :D

@polymerclay140 hello :) Life span varies really, Ive had some that live to 3 years and others pass away young, also depends on genes.. you should buy them from a reputable breeder, alot of breeders aim for health now and breed through strong lines :)
