  • In the titles it said "Music by Bernard Herrmann" is that true? because that does not sound like him.

  • @abc12319525 "Music By" means music writter and original music conductor. Danny Elfman and Steve Bartec "adapted" the soundtrack which means they conducted the remake.

  • Yeah, i think i would prefur Bernard Herrmann's score on "psycho" more but this is still cool.

  • @abc12319525 But did you notice on the original 1960 opening, Bernard Herrmann's tempo lost total control :P

  • The worst part:

    Starring Vince Vaughn

  • @eddievanpenis I appreciate the original much more. It was perfect on its own, and a remake honestly wasn't even necessary. It's not ENTIRELY shot-for-shot, but watch a side-by-side comparison. They're almost exactly alike, apart from minor additions in the remake. For me, a remake is to take an amazing movie that would be considered outdated due to technology, social norms, and other aspects of that nature. The original 1960s version transtlates well in today's society.

  • @bittersweetsunrise

you are absolutely right. Van Sants version begins more careful and initiates the stabbing later and increases the cuts during the stabbing which provides ending the shower scene almost at the exact same time.

Van Sant did a no cutting shot in the beginning. Hitchcock had to cut because of the camera limitations during the time.

Honestly I dont know why the remakes gets bashed so much. It´s solid work.

  • Just ONE small correction to your description of this video clip.

Gus Van Sant's 1998 remake of Hitchcock's "Psycho" is NOT, I repeat, NOT a "shot-by-shot," verbatim remake. There are numerous camera angles, musical cues and even locations that were both added to the Van Sant remake, and extracted from the original Hitchcock film, for dynamics and era-updating purposes. Had you listened to the director/actor commentary in this very DVD, Van Sant even states, and elaborates, on this fact.

  • @NeonicFilm1138 ohhh cool thanks

  • @abc12319525 Yes and no. This is Bernard Herrmann's music, but Danny Elfman adapted the score for this remake.

  • @CutandPrintFilms i did a little bit but it still sounds cool, odd how he did not fix that :P
