I read in 'Cockatiels for Dummies' that many parrots will react to the sounds of the vacuum the same way they would react to hearing thunder. They think it's about to rain so they go through their bathing motions.

@gaybird7 that is funny because my parrotlet puts his food in his water dish, but he also puts his toys in his water dish and food dish hehe. :)

Yep all of my previous parrots would bathe in their water when the vacuum came out. They all soaked their food too lol I had a sulphur crested cockatoo, shamrock macaw, blue crown conure and blue front amazon.

All of our birds do the same thing! We always change their water immediately before vacuuming otherwise they give themselves a stinky shower! Speaking of which, does Coco soak his food in his water too??

He soaks his vitamins. He loves the green ones regardless of brand. I wish we could find only green vitamins. Any advice? He also likes to soak wood in his water. We give him wood to chew up and he chips it off and sometimes places in his water...the other time he hides his wood in newspaper at the bottom of his cage. He is too funny. :)
