Technical hiring managers tell what they look for in new employees. Good communication skills top the list for technicians and engineers. No matter how technical a job description, good communication and teamwork skills are required in order to get hired or promoted.

What does this mean to the average Joe on the street? Take advantage of every opportunity to practice writing and speaking, and craft your communications to make them as easy to understand as possible. Tutor a friend, post to public discussion boards, join the Toastmasters, or take a course on technical writing.

It is true that it is hard to get a job at Google, but they do not hire pompous asses. They hire people from top-tier schools who are easy and fun to work with. They can choose whoever they want, so they only hire the mest. I don't work there, in case you were wondering.

Many technical people believe that if they can just code up a program, they should get hired. What these employers are saying is that technical skills are not enough, one needs to be able to talk to other people about their work.

I cannot say if you are wrong if I cannot understand what you are saying. Technical workers never have people editing their statements, and that is why they have to be able to write clearly and correctly.

Community colleges have great English programs for very little cost.

Nobody mention to get promoted you need to be a back stabbers. Or to get hire you need to be someones brother or son. Lots of companies want only family members or friends in the best positions. Is not what you know is who you know. You can be brilliant and get bypass. Not all companies are like google or hightech that they need to bring people from overseas. Some companies don't even want people from different background.

These people are so abstract that i don't think they even know how to communicate. Communications is transmitting and idea or ideas to another person. These people want you to be able to think abstractly which is not communicating. Communicating is telling someone what your ideas are, and these may be those abstract or practical ideas.
