'Campus' is a temporary, tuition-free and unaccredited art school, a pilot project devoted to the reflection and exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge. During July, the Espai Cultural Caja Madrid, Barcelona, will become a hybrid academy in which four one-week working sessions will be held during consecutive weeks, under the guidance of five international artists -- Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson, Renata Lucas, Peter Piller and Adrià Julià. Combining the models of an experimental art school and an artist residency, 'Campus' aims to create a point of encounter for young artists of any nationality (born in 1980 or after) working in diverse artistic disciplines with fluency in both Spanish and English. 'Campus' aims at encouraging self organization and critical capacity through personal tutorials and group discussions.
'Campus' is divided into 3 phases: 27 June--1 July: internal presentations of the work of the 15 participants of 'Campus', plus two open-door conferences (28 and 30 June) where four case studies of art education programmes were presented by Bartomeu Marí, Carles Guerra, Jennifer Teets and Prof. Nikolaus Hirsch; 4--29 July: four one-week working sessions with Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson (4--8 July), Renata Lucas (11-15 July), Peter Piller (18--22 July) y Adrià Julià (25-29 July).; and 29 July--28 August: display of a selection of the projects produced during Campus.
