  • Please tell me you weren't wearing a baseball cap inside a church! Gentlemen remove their hats when entering a house of worship...

  • I was in NYC from 12-19/1 and attended the Epiphany procession with carols on 16/1. There was only just over 500 there (normally theres more). The choir were fantastic , even though the Aeolian skinner organ has died & they were using the Chamber organ at the back.

There is now a placard on the front steps to ask the men to remove their headgear. It is, after all, a mark of respect. Glad you enjoyed your visit. I always do & was loads better than Trinity Wall St. I went to that morning.

  • @KRyann10 Fair enough. I catch your drift. But please remove your hat or whatever head-covering you may be wearing the next time you visit a church. I don't want you to burn in Hell (ha ha).

  • @jupitermoon10011 I think you're missing my point. All those cultural things are not as important as deepening one's faith in the Divine. The flock that think its all about following "The Rules" and checking lists ruin any true blossoming of authentic faith. It must come from the heart. (Not someone else's finger!) If taking your hat off is a personal sign of respect that you have for a higher being well then take your hat off! But let them be. Let them discover.

  • @KRyann10 Absolutely! Jews expect you to cover your head when entering their place of worship. When entering a church, men are expected to remove their hats. When I visited temples in Japan, I was expected to remove my shoes. I would have caused great offense otherwise. Can you imagine me telling a Rabbi or a Buddhist priest "Who cares! In a world filled with many cultures that idea is lost, dude! I'll do what I want, thank you very much". Typical careless, sloppy, disrespectful attitude.

  • @jupitermoon10011 Yea, and what if you're jewish, and covering the head is a sign of respect to the Divine? And who said anything about a mosque?? Wow, someones projecting!

  • @KRyann10 Really? Good manners and respect is not an "idea" that is lost.

Tell that to the American tourist who enters a mosque with his shoes on, head uncovered... Would your goody-two-shoes political correctness extend to them as well? Or would you label them ugly Americans?

  • @utubehatch07 Who cares! In a world filled with many cultures that idea is lost. I'm just glad they felt welcomed to stop in for a bit.

  • Great work. I've attended evensong there a few times, and you guys are talented and well trained. Your voice broke, I guess which is the normal process by which choirboys cycle through the choir and school every few years.. Good luck in prep school and in life!

  • haha i was a choirboy last year.

  • What's the difference in today's society? You think any of them, or any other "gentlemen" even knows it's improper to wear a hat inside ANY PLACE? It's a shame.
