Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ!!!! The Tide is Turning!!! Watch as the Pope continues to give communion to kneeling communicants.

I don't know about you, but this papist is going to strive for "that profound attitude of the man who prostrates himself before God", because "that is what the Pope wants."

In an interview granted this Sunday to Spanish daily La Razón, the new Prefect of Divine Worship, Cardinal Cañizares Llovera, had this to say on an important liturgical matter:

[La Razón:] Nevertheless, Benedict XVI has reiterated in some instances the propriety of receiving communion kneeling and in the mouth. Is it something important, or is it a mere matter of form?

[Cañizares:] - No, it is not just a matter of form. What does it mean to receive communion in the mouth? What does it mean to kneel before the Most Holy Sacrament? What dies it mean to kneel during the consecration at Mass? It means adoration, it means recognizing the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist; it means respect and an attitude of faith of a man who prostrates before God because he knows that everything comes from Him, and we feel speechless, dumbfounded, before the wondrousness, his goodness, and his mercy. That is why it is not the same to place the hand, and to receive communion in any fashion, than doing it in a respectful way; it is not the same to receive communion kneeling or standing up, because all these signs indicate a profound meaning. What we have to grasp is that profound attitude of the man who prostrates himself before God, and that is what the Pope wants.

The new director of the Vatican liturgical office has strongly encouraged kneeling to receive Communion, indicating that Pope Benedict XVI prefers the practice.

In interview published in the Wednesday edition of L'Osservatore Romano, Pope Benedict's new Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations, Monsignor Guido Marini, says that people receiving Communion kneeling and on the tongue will become common practice at the Vatican. "It could also be noted that the (Pope's) preference for such form of distribution which, without taking anything away from the other one, better highlights the truth of the real presence in the Eucharist, helps the devotion
of the faithful, and introduces more easily to the sense of mystery. Aspects which, in our times, pastorally speaking, it is urgent to highlight and
recover."

  • Why would you want to partake in an act of simulating the eating human flesh and drinking human blood? Holy Communion is a voodoo ritual celebrating cannibalism. Become godless, and free!

  • @brokenscimitar I used to be Godless and I certainly wasn't free. I was a slave to vice and to my passions. By the power of the most Holy Eucharist and His Holy Mother I have been set free from the world and can smile at death. But the Grace comes according to the mode of the reciever. Kneeling before God in the Eucharist increases ones disposition. Peace be with you my brother.

  • So did the apostles receive the bread from Jesus on their tongue? When did all this get started?

  • Yes actually. Jesus said He dipped the morsel... to recieve in the hands would be very messy. Feeding somebody is far less humbling than washing there feet. Have yoi never gave a loved one a bit of food directly into the mouth?

  • So why doesn't the Pope or bishops kneel during consecration or to receive communion? Are they more worthy than we are? Why don't they have to show "proper respect and adoration?" I've never received a satisfactory answer

  • They are acting in persona Christi during the consecration. That is why they kneel after they said the words of consecration after each species. You most likely dont get answers because you ask ignorant people. Have you ever asked a priest? (Considering I can tell you dont go to confession...) You should consider asking questions to somebody you know has at least a bachelors degree in theology from a sound university. God bless you and God love you.

  • Sorry if my previous answer was a bit rude about the going to confession and all. I apologize. I read your comment with a bias attitude and was a little defensive. From experience I have found that those who don't want to show Jesus reverance and honor as God or are against kneeling have never really experienced His Mercy and therefore dont feel like they owe Him anything but feel God owes them something.

  • That would be so amazing to receive holy communion from the Pope! Thanks be to God.

  • THANK YOU TO THE POPE!

  • God is offended by receiving Him on "dirty" hands(ONLY priest can touch Him/not some DR.or person from the street) in the Holy Eucharist!

Only accepted by Heaven form of receiving living Heart of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist of the Catholic Church is into our mouth and on our both knees!

    God bless you

  • All knee shall bend...all head shall bow

  • At the name of Jesus every knee should bend. Especially receiving his body and blood.

Kneeling is appropriate and should be brought back to all churches

  • I think this is great, I take communion in the tongue I think its disrespectful to touch with our hand the body of Christ, I would love that we were made to kneel it shows respect and reverence

  • I Must Know What's Being Sung!? :'(

  • @brokenscimitar I understand how this might seem like a radical teaching. Jesus' Apostles thought so at first too. But, Jesus came to fulfill old Jewish law, where consuming animal sacrifices was needed for the atonement of sin. Jesus, being God Himself, is the Perfect Sacrifice, crucified for our sins. We consume His flesh to complete that sacrifice, but (thankfully) under the easily palatable form of bread. We continue to sin, so constantly re-present this sacrifice with Holy Communion. Peace.

  • What Music Is This?

  • @kolbe1019 thats good to hear Eucharist is holy and sacred and he heals.
