This is considered the "best" (most factual) story of Cyrus' life.

The Greek historians called all non Greeks barbarians (Barbaroi)-not initially pejorative.

Herodotus I believe was telling the strict truth in the case of Cyrus because in his writing of the Mede-Persian character he is obviously an admirer of the man who's subsequent empire azalmost conquered the Greeks.
