  • @sccitylhh If you have one (as I do) you must register it with CA Fish and Game. You actually attach a sticker to them like your car. Mine is very old, found him right in the middle of the town I live in. Spent a month trying to find his owner, now part of my family. He is currently hibernating in the crawlspace under my house. Captive tortoise's will not be introduced back to the wild due to respitory illness which makes them threatend species. The adults can survive with it, not young.

    It might not be worth it to get a permit. The commission cant take him from you legally if they determine it to be necessary for the survival of the species. Better off just taking it to a veterinarian that specializes in reptiles. Less risk.

  • i have one and i live like 10 min away from Coyote point....if i bring him in just to make sure he is healthy and stuff will u take him? i dont have that permit u where talking about....and can you tell me how to get a permit?
