Star Soldier R Review

My review for the very controversial Star Soldier R. Watch my review to see if this game is right for you.

I am a pretty big old school 2d gamer, and shoot'em-ups (SHMUPS or space shooters) comes with the territory. Anyone who knows the genre knows that Star Soldier is a franchise to be admired.

Also, I state a little bit of common ground concerning where I come from in terms of video game reviews.

The link in which IGN states there is no easy reset. Yes, it is a preview, but they never address whether or not the final product has it in their review. I am watching you, IGN!

I make a mistake in the release date; it was released on Monday May 19, 2008.

I'm glad I'm not the only person that caught that error IGN made on the reset. Also to note, holding - and + down for a couple of seconds will bring you back to the title screen.

I see where your going with competitive high scoring, but most(if not all) of the wii ware titles are considerably longer. On the flip side, its a good "play quick, you have to go somwhere in 5 minutes" kind of game that we don't see too much anymore and I deeply commend capcom for that! Awesome review :D

Great review. This is my favorite game of this generation, so I certainly beg to differ with people calling it a rip off for $8. I just got it. In one day I moved from 494 in Canada to 201. I also moved from 19,000+ worldwide to 9990 or so. I can already see I won't stop until I'm at least #1 in Canada. Incredible stuff.

great review, i am a big fan of space shoot em ups. my favorite had always been the gradius series. i like all of the others you talk about but this series has always held a close grip on my soul. other wise star soldier r is a bad ass game.

Well, since you ask, I haven't played the new Raiden IV, but Raiden III was just what I thought it was going to be.

This game brings up a lot of questions and made me rethink the whole genre in general. It's both a paradox of intricate simplicity, and a healthy dose of minimalism.
