I have the same record player! It had a bad hum when I bought it. I went through and changed all the capacitors because people told me it wasn't likely to be a tube problem. But sure enough after all that work, it ended up being a bad tube. Replaced the tube and now it sounds great. The needle and mechanicals are all good, although the turntable needs a push to get going once in a while.

I dont know about who recorded on what label and I dont know how many RPMs was this and that. All I know is I love and enjoy this song.... I have been a big Forrest fan since my teen years (which im still in) and will continue to listen to these 78s even after all of you who have commented before me have passed.

@78Revolutions Good! I played that song on my '75 GE Wildcat, but just to keep in mind that this 78 RPM record does not have a flipover stylus which is LP/78, but it only has a single sided diamond needle. When I played this song, the sound that I hear on a 78 with an LP needle would sound horrible on this Wildcat. I played these 78's on my Wildcat due to lots of hisses in the background. I'll make a video response to your copy which I will be posting it soon.
I REALLY love this song. Thank you!

@vash47 Me too! I have said many times, This is one of my all time favorite songs...specifically this performance. The recrd is worth about $1.00, but is priceless to me.

Since you've enjoyedthis song, I got the same copy at Goodwill yesterday, but it sounds great, but I would love to play it on my 1975 GE Wildcat, I also have the same song by Harry James, but I ended up getting this one by Helen Forrest and Dick Haymes.

@BrooklynMouseReturns Right on! One of my favorite songs/records of all time! I first heard it on a 45, but its the kind of song that I prefer on 78. I have since found a second copy, too, just to have a backup/spare.

Sux you got your account shut down. Good music, though! I'm 30 now, and have been collecting 78s since I was in my teens. I have over 1000. I've bought a lot of the late 30s-40s stuff, like the Dorseys, James, and Miller, and now my new fascination is Ray Noble with Al Bowlly, though those records are a bit more expensive. Good music, though! More people our age should like this stuff!

Thanks! I have probably 15oo or 1700. Ive got about 1,000 in the attic waiting to be sorted and cartalouged. Nothing of value...ive gone through them all already, just havent sorted them. Ive got ssome ray noble, but Al bowlly isnt familiar. I wouldnt consider Ray to be more expensive though..at least not in my experience. If there is something of his you are looking for,let me know I can look and see if I have some to spare. And yes, People our age are missing out by listening to Lady Gaga?!?!?
