The morning of the Buddha's Birthday was very busy at Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, just outside the ancient city of Ayutthaya, Thailand. Margot, a Buddhist nun at the temple, is known for her ability to communicate with wild animals and birds. Today the Buddha images that surround the temple courtyard will be draped with new golden robes. The enormous central chedhi, or tower, will also be draped ceremoniously with new golden cloth. It is a most auspicious day. Thousands of people have come to circle the great monument three times to give thanks. Officials carry images of King Naresuan, his hat, and his mighty sword. This King of Ayutthaya, is honored for his bravery and for his tactics that brought freedom to the Thai people. A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy
