  • I meant Republican. Sorry, not Democrat

I should have said the only big non-Southern state the Republicans have won since 1988.

  • George Will is right. The only big non-Southern state that Democrats have won really since 1988 has been Ohio. Obama punched holes some big holes in the South: Florida, Virginia, North Carolina. If the economy begins to recover, there are no major scandals, or no assasination attempts, or terrorist attacks, and he is popular by 2012, Obama can possibly win states like Georgia, West Virginia, Missouri, Montana, Arizona, Texas.

  • 0:08 is the first time I have seen video of an initial Franken-Coleman-Barkley election night count. Thanks for posting this.

How about NY, CA, PA? In this election the wins in the south and OH were nice, IN was very nice.. but.. Obama's best path to victory, and the one he won by the largest margin consisted of holding all the Kerry states and adding NM, NV and IA each of which he won by at least 9 points (IA was the closest the others were all double digit wins). This got him to a tie. Add CO at 8 points for the outright win.
