1. What is a Kettle?

A kettle is a technologically advanced 100 gallon steam powered cooker that is designed to deliver 5,000 - 6,000 meals for each batch recipe. Kettle Comfort will have four 100 gallon kettles to service Palm Beach County. Our 17,000 square foot distribution/operations center is located strategically at Belvedere Road and I-95 in West Palm Beach.

2. Why FOOD?

Food is a basic birthright to every human being and is considered a "basic need" in order to live a sustained life. Kettle Comfort wants to bring nutrition and dignity to the food security model and the power behind kettle cooking to eliminate this chronic social problem.

3. What is your distribution model?

The existing food security "feeding sites" in Palm Beach County serve as our distribution partners. Our volunteers will work closely with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office to distribute our food safely and strategically. We also distribute to area non-profits in need of nutritious food; i.e. Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. We believe in strong community collaboration.

4. What is your sustainability model?

We will be fully self-sustaining by year two of operations through 2 million dollars raised in the private sector. We envision a for profit micro enterprise such as gleaned produce into a marketable local product; and a catering business to fund the non-profit business model.

5. What is the need?

Children in Palm Beach County go hungry at a rate 3 times the national average; with 75,000 persons daily in need of a hot meal. The estimated unemployment rate in the western region of Palm Beach County stands at 42%.

Kettle Comfort is a non-political, non-religious non-profit with a sustainable business model. While we are happy to work with organizations from all religious and political backgrounds, we prohibit the giving of our food from being associated with any religious or political ideology.
