what the hell do this dog? is he in fear? in general i think its a shepard dog? i had a (working) kelpie and 2 german shepards, in a couple of days my first schipperke come home. hope we can work together...

@TheArweyn De naam Schipperke is een verbastering van scheperke. Maar wat dat vaccin betreft krijgen alle honden normaal gezien bij de jaarlijkse inenting een cocktail tegen allerhande infecties waaronder rattenziekte.

@Jekke1971 Many people make that mistake. I always used to think that they were boat-dogs. Until we got our own Schipperke. ( I'm from belgium, so according to the translation, so I really thought it meant boat.) Dad explained about how they were known to be shepherds and real rat-hunters. Isn't it so that Schips get a special vaccine against diseases that rats carry with them? It's some sort of cocktail. But then again, I could be wrong ;P

@B100D574R Sorry, but Schipperkes are not boat dogs, that's an old misunderstanding, originating from a bad translation a century ago. Schipperke in our language means 'small shepherd dog', they are very closely related to the Belgian Shepherd Groenendael. Which explains their urge to go play with cattle.

Love how they all seem to have so much energy. My schip loves to dart around, even when he has no other animal to dash by, he'll just run and run and run. It's fun to be a part of.
