The Dalai Lama is in Washington DC ahead of a meeting with U.S. president Barack Obama. China has already warned the talks will affect relations with America. Recently tension's escalated between the two countries following trade rows and a fallout over proposed U.S. arms sales to Taiwan. For more insight on the issue, RT talks to author and financial commentator Jim Rogers.

  • why they (china) put severe travel restriction to TIBET. Something fishy thing happening in there.

  • @tjxkid

    Well said, dude.

    =)))))

  • I had great respect for Dalai Lama. The day after Osama Bin Laden's death, Dalai Lama in an interviews said that Bin Laden's death is justified. How can a Buddist Monk justify and support killings ? Say Bin Laden is the worst person on earth. Still how can a Buddist monk, a sign of peace and non violence support killings. He lost my respect.

  • Free tibet....and then what??? If the Tibetan exiles really believed in democracy and tell me why they are begging the Dalai Lama to stay on? The Tibetan exiles supported by the West don't believe in democracy but rather Theocracy!

  • @obsidianstatue During the 2010 Yushu Earthquake in Kham Tibetan monks helped to rescue the victims, bury the dead and prayed for two days non-stoping for the funeral rites. So I guess you could say they were practicing religion.

  • @uranian99 many tibetans wants tobe monks rather than business man, they rather study religion than eocnomics etc. how can you blame han Chinese for tibetans' own failours economically speaking? they CHOOSE the lifestyle of religoin and farming NO one forced them to become monks, nomads or farmers, they had equal opportunities as anyother ethnic minorities in China how come others arnt complaining?? its only the tibetan religoius fanatics and uyghur terrorists that are the ones manking trouble

  • @uranian99 LOL what else other than false acusations u teabag supporters can vomit? no evidence=me no believe.=) Im a Manchu, and i consider myself Chinese, and so did the Manchu emperors of Qing dynasty that is why they spoke in Mandarin Chinese and live in the han chinese way and used Han Chinese as cabinet officials. Yuan dynasty is also a Chinese dynasty why? because that was when Mongols were Sinicization and hence forward became a part of wider Chinese ethnic.

  • @jewishwarrior666 The Dalai Lama himself established a democratic government in exile. He even gave it the power to impeach the office of the Dalai Lama. So much for your charge of "theocracy." One of the first things he did was try to find employment for exiled Tibetans and establish hospitals and schools to receive refuges. Saying that the Dalai Lama was hoarding all the money in Tibet is like saying the president of the USA owns all the money collected from taxes. How lame can you get?

  • @obsidianstatue "Try harder?" There are many Tibetans who have become impatient with the Dalai Lama's peaceful solution with China and now feel that more aggressive methods should be taken. I wonder if Beijing is aware that if a people is oppressed and made to feel inferior they will overthrow the government? We did that here in America and it is happening around the world even as we speak. The bravery of the Tibetans impresses the world. The brutality of the CCP does not. YOU do the math.

  • @obsidianstatue I have both Chinese and Tibetan friends and they both say that the CCP favors the Han. A Han can get a business permit in a few days while a Tibetan has to wait ONE YEAR. Tibetans are taught Tibetan in their schools, but it is obvious that won't benefit them because everything is in Mandarin. There is discrimination against Tibetans in employment and the best jobs are given to the Han. This information comes not from the Dalai Lama but from people who have actually been there.
