I've supplied my workshop for almost 2 years now with solar power. Overall I feel quite happy with the design and amount of power it supplies. I did learn a few things about planning for upgrades, and do have an upgrade coming in the near future.
One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that I also have a motion detector light on the outside of my workshop that is powered by the solar power system too.

  • you don't need a pure sign wave inverter for the laptop. It has it's own transformer in the charger. So you can use a modified sign wave for the laptop.

  • @kg4bga Actually with the recent upgrade to my solar power I've not even hooked up the pure sine wave inverter. The only thing it seems I would need it for is running my variable speed saw. My laptop runs just fine on the modified sine wave.

  • Can't say I know everything about this solar stuff, but as you work on setting yours up I'm happy to answer any questions I can about mine.
