Last Trains to Folkestone Harbour 12th April 2008

Saturday 12th April 2008 brought about the last day of the Folkestone Harbour Branch. In the first scene we see Battle of Britain class Bulleid Pacific 34067 'Tangmere' leave with the first photographic run up the bank to Folkestone East sidings.

In the next scene, we see Tangmere again take the last passenger train up the 1-30 bank from a foot crossing half way up. The loud, constant whistling can be heard before it is even visible.

In the final scene we see the last ever train down the branch consisting of 73204, 205 and 209. The loud horning and explosions of the detonators can be heard echoing round the harbour as they cross the viaduct for one last time.

That stoat really shouldn't be in the four foot as technically he's trespassing. The BTP even came along at one point. Like your screen name though, as Dionysos was the first 47 I saw on the mainline!

I've heard the latest over the years the government have decide to spend millions on re designing the harbour the viaduct will maybe turned into a walkway but I just wish it could be a rail way again :'(
