looking at the war footage of the yamato it really looks formidable and capable of engaging multiple capital ships

@kempmt1 "Did the American battleships have flak suppression capabilities like the Yamato had with its big guns (07:00)?" the US could have made the "beehive" shells for BBs but knew they were ineffective
USS BB SoDak shot down over 25+ Japanese aircraft in 1 battle alone in 1942 and compare that to:
Yamato's final cruise, Operation Ten-Go, she, the CL Yahagi and 8 IJN DDs shot down a combined total of 10 US aircraft and killed 12 US flyers to the Yamato, Yahagi and 4 or 8 DDs lost

sunk by a "few" airplanes?!?! I believe the americans had over 300 planes attacker her.

Yamato.......was not only the pride of the Imperial Japanese Navy but also the symbol of the demise of the Imperial Japanese Navy that was still sticking to an old "Big Gun and Big Ship" notion during WW2.
Yamato wasn't a significant factor at all in any sea battles and got sunk so easily by a few airplanes. End of the Yamato era of imperial Japan.

Great video! I heard that a movie was made of the Yamato. Did the American battleships have flak suppression capabilities like the Yamato had with its big guns (07:00)?
