Wow. It seems to me like dancers of this age have lost whatever it was that made Plisetskaya so amazing. I've never seen a dance liker hers. Simply phenominal. Everyone who says she doesn't have technique obviously doesn't know what technique is.

adballet and others. Maya is a class above anything around today. Maya outperforms everyone else in technique, musicality and interpretation. Perhaps Pavlova was as great, but she bought another entirely different style of dancing to the people. We love them both.

odile is one of those roles where when the dancer is graceful i am kind of unsatisfied ... i want odile to be fierce. some dancers just can't stop being supergraceful. i don't know, maybe that's just me.

Wow! Not crazy about the ungraceful and not very balletic walking but her strength and command of performance are undeniable. Different tutu's so I'm guessing different performances. I do prefer the modern soviet dancers - I like how thin and 'lengthened' they look and I'm crazy for those high extensions. But someone had to set the bar way back when! She is pure power,

and raw passion and emotion ... with an amazing sense of the music. she's really brilliant.
i know where you're coming from, i love the post-balanchine russian aesthetic also, but although not graceful perfection (like ulanova), plisetskaya owned her roles, they were just so her, and she was so the character she was dancing, that makes her really a special and stand out dancer in my mind. i hope that made sense.
