@kodiak410a it help's redirect the forces placed on the the crankshaft bearings into the block so you can support higher HP numbers without having the bearing caps shoot out the bottom of your oil pan... and your crankshaft following soon after! In the beginning of the video you hear mention of tapping out a 12mm hole, to a 14mm hole. this is done to help prevent fastener stretch and permit higher fastener torque #'s (increased clamp force) allowing more stresses to be redirected into the block
