2003 - 1st Quarter GDP shrunk whopping 18.5% over same period in 2002, largest decline in Venezuela's history.
In 1995 the percentage of the Venezuelan population described as "extremely poor" was 39.4%. In 2002 that number stood at 48.1%
So yes, I agree ironically with Kennedy on this point. Hugo Chavez does love the poor. So much so he does his best to create so much of them.

Chavez is the biggest hypocrit I've ever seen. Chavez said "vayanse al carajo, Yankees the mierda" which translates "get the fuck out, shit Yankees", and with the profits of CITGO he is buying Russian Sukhois planes and iranian missiles to kill Americans. He has prohibited the imports of Colombian products in Venezuela because the Colombians are friends of the Americans. It is incredible to me the hypocrisy of Marxist Chavez, and Kennedy, who I admired so much, felled right on his lap.
