World Piecebook is the third in the series from Prestel, a publishing group that specialises in art, design, architecture and photography. The first book, called Piecebook focused on NYC writers from the earlier eras, while the second, Piecebook Reloaded, looked at "rare" sketches from graffiti legends (Cope2, Ces and Reas for example) between 1985 and 2005. Not quite sure what rare means in this context, but back to the most recent in the series.
The newest installment showcases never-before-published blackbook sketches from heavyweight writers from around the world. And when they say "around the world", they don't mean a few pages from Europe, loads from the USA and a couple from South America. 145 drawings are included, from writers such as Atome, Demote, and Casino from Australia; Kas and Resm from Belgium; Rens from Denmark, Zek and Bacon from Canada; Lunar and Dock from Croatia; Lemon and Angel from Serbia; Nami and Rio from Brazil.
In fact, in making this book, the creators have explored as far afield as to find Rek, Ske, Blend from Puerto Rico and Shiro, Sniper and Nezm from Japan! A truly international line-up.
The book isn't without it's susperstars, including Canada's Virus, Denmark's Swet and Bates and Os Gemeos from Brazil. Bacana!
