Winner of the LiveEarth/MSN video contest! To fight climate change in our backyard, we use a reel mower to cut the grass. I made this video with my 8-year-old son Carrick to show the reasons why it makes sense to switch to this smart alternative.

  • Communist freaks.

  • @trent730 Right.....

  • I'm all for reel mowers from a cost, noise and sustainabliity standpoint, but I have no interest in the dubious climate change/global warming issues. There are two sides to the debate, and unfortunately it appears that this kid was presented with only one side. I doubt his parents/teachers brought up the frauds of the IPCC or the East Anglia research center. I suppose they also forgot to mention the fundamental rule that correlation doesn't imply causation, so we can't say CO2 levels affect temp

  • @jimbad05 you would be wrong in assuming that we don't talk about both sides of the issue, including the IPCC and East Anglia. Carrick probably knows more about both sides of the climate change debate than the average American. Like you pointed out, there are many reasons to be for reel mowers, regardless whether or not you agree with most of the world's climate scientists.

  • Not only are you saving gas and cutting down on noise and air pollution, you are also getting a great workout. I have a reel mower and I enjoy reaping the benefits of owning one. No sparkplugs, oil, or gas to worry about. Simplify!

  • @suchfunstuff I think i'll idle my power washer for the afternoon.

  • I just got a reel mower because of this video. Didn't know they still sold these things. LOL.

Now I'm doing my bit for the sake of the environment. I can actually listen to my ipod while I'm mowing now.

Many thanks, and great work on the video. Keep it up. :)

  • @carrickgareth Given the fact that scientists believed in global cooling as late as the 1970's, and called current climate phenomenon "Global Warming" instead of "climate change" only a few short years ago, I'm skeptical. The frauds exposed at the East Anglia research center, and by the IPCC, make me even more skeptical. The fact that GE and anyone else who can rebrand their business as "green" in some tangential way can stand to make millions on this environmental hysteria, make me question.

  • @jimbad05 there will never be enough scientific proof for you

  • @nilbud Why don't you prove your science for me? Why not explain a less-economically harmful way to capture carbon? Wouldn't that be more productive than spewing your hateful rhetoric towards me? Many others feel as I do, I doubt name-calling will convince them to adopt your viewpoint.

  • @aivilik except glen beck and alex jones. You're an idiot of the lowest order and a fool.

  • @jimbad05 You're a stupid paranoid idiot, fortunately you count for nothing. Your despicable illiterate mooing is irritating though if that's any consolation for your terrified addled brain.

  • @carrickgareth 'Most of the world's climate scientists' are on the take from George Soros and the global banking cartels. Besides, I could give a sh1t about what 'most of the world's any body thinks. I'm an American, and I don't allow others to think for me.
