  • Save our libraries, or Alan Moore will come and stand this close to you in real life...

But jokes aside, I agree entirely. I spent so much of my childhood in libraries..

  • The old St James library opened up new worlds to myself, brother & sisters whilst growing up. We gained knowledge & understanding of experiences beyond our own. Television & films cannot compare. When reading you have the opportunity to pause for thought & spark your imagination. It develops intellect. Nothing more threatening to a politician than a well read working class.

Time for the council to stop spending money on themselves & start representing those that put them there. Simples.

  • Alan Moore says we need to defend our libraries. HIS WORD IS FINAL.

  • in that beard are the ruins of an ancient civilizations

  • Look, it is Alan Moore and his pal... DEATH!

  • “Congratulations on the new library, because it isn't just a library. It is a space ship that will take you to the farthest reaches of the Universe, a time machine that will take you to the far past and the far future, a teacher that knows more than any human being, a friend that will amuse you and console you---and most of all, a gateway, to a better and happier and more useful life.”

  • I take it back, the library here plays fucking shit music so's you can't browse nor use the internet or do fuck all else there either. Fuck Inverclyde Council for shit like that and their tree-murdering & nature-killing rape also, which they do and allow constantly. I'd say god should strike them down but it's god that's responsible for making human scum like them to begin with.

  • The library here actually has a decent selection of his work! But in general there's been a severe decline in libraries and bookstores too. Computers were supposed to make things 'paperless' - when there was never any reason to use trees for paper anyway. That'd only happen if the branch of an ancient oak fell by lightning & was deemed suitable to have sigils of enchantments burned into its thinly carved leafs, then kept safe for evermore. And suchlike.

  • @sukisyo7 its part of his image, hes like a kind of 'wizard' or 'magical Elder' or a kind of druid. Its part of his image as a writer and celebrity. Understand?

  • Man I wish they had "loiborrys" in America

  • @soffa93 Well Moore is something of a luddite at heart as I understand it, (as am I, when it comes to reading) I don't think he has an e-reader, he does however have a large book collection.

I just wrote that post because I like the textile nature of a book; you know, turning pages and cradling an actual spine in my hands as opposed to reading it off a handheld screen. But that's just me.
