August 2009 Kern County Almond Harvest. There are 120,000 acres of almonds in Kern County and over 700,000 acres in the San Joaquin Valley. Harvest goes from early August to the middle of October.
Worked for a hulling and shelling plant for 4 year's running the pre cleaner side best job I ever had!!!! This harvest did the almond sweeping, blowing and drove the bankout wagon!!!! Got to say luv the almond industry!!!! NO HOMO
Got to be a way to reduce the dust. the air resources board crack down is sure to come.
Maybe a short grass bed.
I have hauled almonds and walnuts -can see difference in dust production.
I am dependant on AG, but also suffer nasal/lung wise.
